Yeah only with gamers :D but I had this come up yesterday with 2 of the top 5 NZ players discussing it. I dislike escalation and buildings and void shields their rules are shite

Which 2 of the top 5 were there? I thought you lived in Otago.

and here's a thread i've dug up on the subject (since i can't get to my rule book) and it seems to confirm what i believe: that there aren't 2 profiles, just a bonus shot if you're within 12"

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/po ... ge#5941803

i'll read the rules when i get home. It seems quite fiddly (and poorly written of course) and all this nonsense over a single shot (effectively) but i'm curious as to whether rapid fire weapons (and salvo) have 2 different profiles or just one w/ bonuses/penalties

I doubt you will get far waving around a quote from dakka, the term 'alternately" in the rapid fire definition means that, one mode of fire or the other. You can't combine both 12 and 24 unless at least 1 model shoots 24 inches and drops 1 shot. Im in Auckland for a holiday we do this every year. I usually play in Battlecry up in Auckland. Last year I finished in 5th place out of 42 with my 5th ed Blood Angels.
This year I am taking Iyanden Wraiths to Battlecry. So far in practice games the wound allocation dynamic as I explained it is accepted up here. So is the prescience/twin linked/template.
Can I go now or do you have more questions about my friends and activities while on holiday :D ?

HAHAHAHAHAHA

i was wondering when the "hardcores" moved down to the South Island.

Interesting that they're ruling that Prescience twin-links the template. it re-rolls to wound, sure, but since it says wound, most players i know (esp the hardcores) wouldn't have have it re-rolling to pen, since that's not wounding.

extending the kill zone is by no means a "dirty trick" or something i would ever debate. as badly as the rules are written, it's pretty clear how it works. it's only the rapid fire weapons that surprise me, as i never thought of them as having 2 profiles (with different ranges)

Cool I will let you know how I get on :D the prescience power and whether it twin links is very much up for debate still. Prescience can't twin link hits in assault just re-roll hits.
