Hi guys,

I played this list against Flangenabber's new shiny White Scars, and by as much (ok more) luck as by design it put him away. My question, will this list go ok against a wider range of opponents? I know it'll be ok agaisnt MEQs (Chaos usually is), but does it have the fat against hordes etc?

HQ
Kharn the Betrayer
Fabius Bile

T
8 beserkers, champ w/Pwpn, mutation, MB
Icon of wrath, Vets

9 CSM, Mark of Slaanesh (BP, bolter, ccw), flamer, icon of excess, Vets
champ w /Pwpn, mutation, MB

10 cultists, Mark of Khorne, flamer

10 Cultists, Mark of Slaanesh, flamer

FA
5 Bikers, Mark of urgle, 2 x melta, champ w/P Axe

Heldrake with baleflamer

HS
Landraider - extra armour, dirge caster

Landraider - extra armour, dirge caster

3 Obliterators . Mark of Nurgle, Vets

Obvioulsy, the two nasty troop units go in the landraiders with the appropriate HQ goobers, the cultists skulk around at the back, the nurgle bikers try to melt something expensive (preferably a landraider that the choppy boys can eat the contents of ), and the Chicken does his thing.

Neither of those choppy troop units had much of a chance agasint Shane's desthdstar, so they stayed the hell away, and dined out on troop bikers instead :P

small units of marked cultists seem.... inefficient, points wise, and lack resilience. i always thought cultists were best i larger blocks. running only 2 oblits and losing the marks would probably net you more cultists, and thus some resilience.

Was trying for theme (theyre the worshippers of the chop units), and also 4 troop choices at 2k which seems like a minimum.

I'm also considering dropping the nurgle bikers for lots of spawn (for hte lolz, also they're Fabius's failed experiments)

I suppose tri-god is theme-y

but if you like spawn, then yes, you could really get some nice big cultist blobs. i really feel like 10 is just not enough to count as useful...

I'd definitely drop the Nurgle bikes for Nurgle spawn.

Still T6, just as quick apart from turbo boosting, 3 wounds with cover saves is better than 1 wound with a 3+, much more themey for a Fabius list and probably a lot more fun too (also, more attacks so better vs hordes, better in combat in general, and no DT to worry about). About the only area where you lose out is the Meltaguns, but there aren't that many things that really need a Meltagun to reliably drop them and on the whole I'd say you get better overall utility from the Chaos Spawn. (Given their previous rules, I never thought I'd say that.)

That aside I'd seriously be considering a fifth Troop squad and preferably a power armoured one; you have so little in the way of bodies on the ground that anything which isn't dedicated antitank fire will only have the Spawn and the Cultists to fire at so 1/2 of your scoring units will evaporate in short order; everything else is either Landraiders or in reserve (given that, unless you've changed in the last couple of years, your Oblits will be Deep Striking!)

Nah the oblits start on the board I need moar Lascannoney goodness. I was actually thinking Angry Khorne Spawn, but nurgle spawn could be fun (I'm thinking of the modelling, 5 lumbering great tentacled poops pretty much).

I really like the idea of the spawn as well, it's themey with Fabius, It's a great modeling opportunity and the only thing you loose is two melta guns that won't be shooting to great effect until turn two if they haven't been killed already.
