So who's excited about the new knight as much as me? How many are people getting? I'm in for two and will probably get a third if Forgeworld do a weapons variant.

I did say i wasn't going to buy anymore GW stuff until i got my exodites done (some of you will know how bad I am at starting new armies/selling old ones), but i didnt see this model coming. Never thought GW would make them, let alone do such a great job.

If I bring 2 or 3 along with a fully converted mechanicus and true-scale salamanders army, is anyone against playing me?

They have actually done them well, faithful to the old epic scale models but refining what wasn't good about them.

give the rules i've seen, i could even see letting be used in regular games, since only the CC weapon is strength D. so with any luck, we'll see some on the tables by Conquest (CavCon/Tempest and Ides of May seem a bit soon)

that said, i don't play imperial armies, so won't be getting any myself.

are knights on a new base size or is it just rotated? comparing it to the riptide, it does almost seem bigger.

Definitely a bigger base. Its been reported to be about 2 inches longer than the 120mm one. I'm thinking it'll be a 180mm by 100mm or thereabouts. Looking at pics of the knights i'd say that makes them about 180mm high. Not sure if they'll reach 8 inches like GW says. Most think they are only 6 inches. We shall soon see. It is a faily bulky model with a lot of detail, hence the higher price than the wraithknight.

The price certainly isn't for everyone but for those like me who are fanatic about the Mechanicus and Titans, it's a dream come true.

ultra papa smurf, you have two warhounds? That's awesome. Is one a mars pattern?

Wes, i'll get mine assembled and we should have game to see if they're suitable for tournament play.

I'm thinking we will see at least a digital codex for these. GW love to get any cash they can from us and with the amount of kits they'll sell, it makes sense. The rules in the white dwarf aren't exactly complete either. 40k radio mentioned 3 armylists and they have a pretty good track record lately. GW have also spent money on new artwork and background which would seem to indicate some sort of book.

I'm hoping they will bring out another kit or two to go with it. Perhaps skitarii or even some medieval support troops. The main issue is that they say you can take 3 to 6 as an army but how do you get to various point levels without upgrades etc. All you could do is 1125, 1500 and 1875 points currently

The 2 current knights have a points difference of 5, so there is some wiggle room. From what I've heard it is a main detachment can be 3-6, meaning you can take imperial guard allies who count as skitarii. I recall one list is for main detachments and the other is for allied detachments. No idea what the 3rd list is.

In the current epic list for knight worlds, they get acess to combat sentinels, haywire trebuchets and AA ballistas (plus Navy and Titanicus support). It wouldn't surprise me if GW added an infantry grunt to the list, but part of the design seems to be an imperial equivalent to the Tau full suit list.
