Hi all you 40k-ers. February 7th and 8th, 2015, Woolston Club. Be there!

I just wanted to get some opinions on points, units to allow/disallow, etc. Last year we ran a doubles format, something that I think is cool. However, I am interested in increasing the points a little bit so that combined points comes to 1850, or 925 per player.

Superheavies- yes or no?
Allies- battle brothers and allies of convenience only? I like the fluffy idea of probable alliances.
Missions- combined maelstrom + BRB misions like Conquest? Campaign style like CAVCON? Classic missions from past editions/supplements? Tactical objectives with cards? No cards and BRB only?
Tell me what tickles your fancy!

maybe 1 superheavy per team & have a look at the allowed/disallowed list of super heavies from the Bay Area Open; it's probably a better way of doing it than i did at Conquest.

I'd like to see Maelstrom Missions used in some sort of way, since they discourage gun lines by encouraging flexible, mobile armies.

So long as there's enough time allowed per game, i'd say that 1850 per team would be fine.

If you finalise the player pack far enough in advance and have sufficient time per round, you cannot do much wrong.

A combination of maelstrom and eternal war missions would be nice.

Cheers for the quick replies, lads. Jason gave me a copy of Cityfight. Some of those missions seem cool, like Assasination and Firesweep. Have you played them?

Is that the older, Cityfight book? I ask because the brand new, 7th Ed compatible rules JUST dropped in that new Campaign book, Shield of Ba'al.

Yeah, it is the older book. Some interesting deployment options and scenarios. My bro had the old 3rd ed rulebook and I remember there being some cool missions there. They have probably been reformatted and re-released as material in later books like planetstrike or battle missions.

1850- take about 3 hours, yeah?

3 hrs for a doubles 1850 should be enough

I'll ask around and see if anyone bought a copy of the Shield of Ba'al book, and see if we can't lend you a copy.

So it shall be then. If I time it for an 8:30 rego, 9am start, 1st game ends at 12. Lunch goes for an hour, 2nd game from 1-4. It would limit the tournament to 4 proper games but I guess you technically play 6 people, so that's alright!
Thanks for all feedback thus far and yes any and all advice/support/resources/experiences are appreciated.

8:15 reg
8:30 start
11:30-noon lunch (maybe 11:30-12:15)
12/12:15 game 2
3:15/3:30 game 3

later finish but not that bad i don't think. still home for dinner with the family, even with a 45 min lunch
