After the comments in this thread, here's my second attempt:

HQ
Vulkan He'Stan 190

Troops
Tactical Squad 220
10 Marines, Flamer, Multimelta, Sergeant Power Weapon, Rhino

Tactical Squad 220
10 Marines, Flamer, Multimelta, Sergeant Power Weapon, Rhino

Scout Squad (Sniper Rifles) 95
Missile Launcher, Sergeant Combi-Plasma

Scout Squad (Sniper Rifles) 95
Missile Launcher, Sergeant Combi-Plasma

Elite
Terminator Assault Squad 450
Land Raider

Dreadnought 150
Heavy Flamer, Drop Pod

Fast Attack
Landspeeder 70
Heavy Flamer, Multi-Melta

Landspeeder 70
Heavy Flamer, Multi-Melta

Heavy Support
Vindicator 115

Predator 105
Twin Linked Lascannon

TOTAL 1780

Obviously once again that's not finished unless I happen to run into a 1780 point tournament somewhere; this is an evolution of the previous list. I dropped the Chaplain, Devs, and Assault Squad, gave the Tacs Rhinos, made both speeders identical, and added a Predator. I'm REALLY unimpressed with 105 points for a twin-linked Lascannon though - I would add the Lascannon sponsons but am kinda-sorta going for a 1750 point list and so didn't add the 60 extra for the sponsons.

This list only has 36 bodies, but it has 8 vehicles (counting the Dreadnought and Speeders). Is the body count too low?

Cheers all again,

Matt

The more I think about that Predator the less I like it. Replace it with:

Dreadnought 160
TL Lascannon, Missile Launcher, Extra Armour

Which ups the point total to 1835 (so much for 1750....)

Hmm, I can see why you have the dread but I would be tempted to drop the dread for another vindy. You really need to put up alternatives to the raider to get it in close enough for those termies. The 2 vindys and pred create a perfect wall for your raider and rinos so they can be hidden or clam cover + the enemy will be pretty concered about those s10 pie plates. Should buy you a couple turns. 1 vindy could go on turn 1 then your cover is gone as you can just ignore a pred with 1 twin las.

Do yourself a huge favour and get rid of the predator. They're worse than useless as they can't move and fire, which makes them easy prey for fast moving or outflanking antitank, of which there is at least one of in every new codex atm (genestealers, warwalkers, the entire dark eldar dex...) Two Vindicators would be an excelent shield for your rhinos and landraider (ewhich tese days plays like a very big rhino), and their 2 demolisher cannons is somethign no opponent can ignore.....
