Hey this is great news. Couple of questions.. What scenarios will be played?
How many players are we expecting?
I had a read through the Hobbit rulebook (Haven't played lotr in 2 years) What are people's opinions on the special attacks you can do with different weapons? they look highly situational and tend to have big downsides to them. (Doesn't really worry me as I played when everything pretty much represented a hand weapon)
After 30 seconds of soul searching i'm keen to play and intend to bring a force of Minas Tirith and the Fiefdoms what are other people planning on taking?
Thanks Matt

With you in we currently have 6 players already.

I know there is a couple of Mordor armies and at least another army based on Minas Tirith with allies as well

For scenarios, the ones in the Hobbit / LOTR army books will be used plus another couple from tournaments in the past.

I don't bother with special weapon rules. The only one which I see as effective is the pierce with a pick otherwise they have too big a downside for me to use. The big monster options on the other hand are great.

Thanks Tim
Those were my thoughts exactly on the weapon rules. very few figures have the pick as well, it's an unusual weapon.
There are 2 scenarios in the Hobbit book which I cringe at but they seem to balance each other out. One were you get vp's for each model killed which hamstrings armies with 30+ models and another where you get vp's for holding a hill 1 vp per figure which hamstrings small hero based forces. I guess I have to take it into account as I run a list. Is any one up for a game so I an brush up on the rules? I can't do the clubs but am free during the day.

Hi all

You have until Monday 26th Oct to send me your lists for Conquest.

Remember you need to supply one 500 point army either good or evil. Figures must be painted. Only proper Lord of the Rings or Hobbit Figures are to be used unless permission is given by the Umpire for alternative figures to be used by you.

Your list should be put together as outlined in the Lord of The Rings Sourcebooks (The Kingdoms of Men, The Free Peoples, Mordor and The Fallen Realms) and/or The Hobbit main rulebook and its supplementary books.

The force can include a maximum of 50 and a minimum of 3 models.

Lists can be sent to comics@xtra.co.nz

Cheers

Tim

Heya Tim

Bit concerned at only "official figures" can be used for game which has half the range OOP?

Conversions allowed?

Andrew

I swapped to fantasy because around half my army were conversions or alternate figures.

Conversions are fine and proxies are allowed as long as they represent well what they are supposed to be and approved by me as umpire.

Matt to be fair you actually have a proper Lotr gondor army you can use and you were offered help with other figures if needed. I just was not prepared to.allow you to use a proxie for the beast of gorgoth.

Cheers

Tim

Kia ora Tim

Okay so my list uses Feral Uruk Hai which I intended to convert from Uruk Hai plastics?

My Sharkey and Worm are also conversion using other LOTR minis

Converted Crossbows Uruk Hai and Converted Dunlendings?

I'll try to upload some pics at the end of the weekend but does that sound reasonable?
