Jamahl, there are posters up at Comics and it's common knowledge at the Cavaliers club. "Key" locals in Westport (Glen), Greymouth (Grayson), Invercargill (You, Royce) are all aware and (to the best of my knowledge) made their club members aware of the event. I guess you'd call that informal advertising.

Not sure if I missed this in an earlier post but I was wondering if tabling your opponent gets you maximum VPs in each game? At most tournies (and by that I mean every tournie I can every remember playing in) it does. BUt it seems that you only get the 12vps in misssion 1. Is this correct?

I am firmly of the belief that tabling gets you max points. That's the whole point. Certainly there are some armies which will really struggle in some of these missions otherwise. Most notably combat armies and msu armies like guard will be be hurt by this (because if there's one thing combat armies need in 6th it's nerfing). In the kill points missions at the start, and non-troops-slots-are-scoring missions, horde armies will really be looking to table or lose. Most combat armies will usually lose their warlord and FB so the table/concede helps them keep parity with the shooting lists.

Nevermind; I see your answer in the first post now. Derpy-derp. I stand by my position that this should be changed though.

Just played mission 8 against Chris and his nids.
We called it at the end of my turn 5 as I had not lost a single kill point and had knocked over almost all of his units with any real hitting power but even with my chapter master running a muck I was never getting across to my objective and taking it uncontested.

That mission is going to be very hard to win on the secondary alone so first blood is going to be crucial unless you have a trick to get to your objective and clear it of contesting units. I think if you loose first blood you're only option will be to go very hard for that objective, it should make for some real interesting scraps.

@Flangenabber I'm with you 100%. I think I mentioned to Tim in some PM mission feedback that it would be a shame if the final game for 1st/2nd comes down to the dice roll for first turn. I'm guessing most people won't have trouble getting the 5 Kill points and no one playing for a placing is letting their opponent near a castled objective worth all the lollies. I do like the twist on the draw mission, just not for the final game necessarily.

@ginga Might it be possible to switch this mission with one of the others? Possibly 4, 5, or even 7 at a stretch (though I don't like the randomness of 7 for a final game)?

What about 5 & 8 Swap so it is more or less a normal game for the final one?

Hey Wonkyperm

We ran something similar in terms of scoring at conquest and the tabling netting max vp's caused too much bias in the scoring system with people drawing weak opponents in the early rounds, tabling them, netting max points and creating a near insurmountable lead in battle points (all due to 1-2 initial luck of the draw easier games first before the field is split) in comparision if a couple of the top guys drew each other first and ground out a 4-3 win or something similar they were now staring down a barrel of a 10+ battle point deficit due to luck of draw. The not max points for tabling (although you get minimum of 10 for winning still) and the atleast 10 points for winning rule are designed to not punish people for drawing a tough matchup first up and grinding out a tight win.

The scoring system is more designed to give people who go 1 win 7 losses in the tournament something more out of it, for example I got 25 points in the tournament, or I went 4-4 and got 50 points, gives people more to play for despite not winning every game and also split the field (people with 5-3 records will most likely have different battle points totals so not so many ranking ties)
