Missions: randomly determined using the BF 3ed chart with a max of 3 each of FF, Mob and Def bat and no missions repeated in the course of the weekend. There will be no extraneous rules for setup/weather etc in any mission. The only rules variation is the timeout rule (see below).

Award categories: Prizes etc TBC as entry numbers will determine prizes. For each era (proposed):
• 1st Best General, who will be awarded the NATCON FoW trophy* (on VP + win bonuses + 10% sports)
• 2nd Best General
• 3rd Best General
• Best Sport (uses sports scores and ranking votes)
• Best Army (determined by player vote in beauty pageant + judges votes)
*Both winners get their name on the trophy but the player in the larger event takes it home.

Scoring for Best General: Battlepoints (using BF rules +1 VP for wins) 90%, and accumulated sports points from each round’s play 10%
Count-backs: 1.) If players have played each other the winner of that game wins a tie , 2.) Best win record, 3.) Sum of each player’s opponents VP (best opposition), 4.) Sum of votes in sport and army category

Sports scoring in each round: Using original BF system, ie: 5; a good game no real issues and any rules discussions were amicable, 4; maybe a few issues were problematic, 1; my opponent systematically abused the rules/argued/I would avoid this opponent in the future. In addition players will vote for their favourite game/opponent each day. Votes will not contribute to best overall, only best sport. Any score of a 1 will be queried to both players. Sporting play it is expected that all players will behave in a sporting manner and resolve disputes amicably, any problems will earn an Umpire’s warning, any player who receives a second or subsequent Umpire’s warning will immediately forfeit the game in which this happens scoring 1 VP.

Army painting and presentation: Player vote will be used to rank armies for purposes of best painted/ presented army only. A player must have painted at least 80% of their own army to qualify. In the event of a drawn vote the Umpire will cast a deciding vote and will invite non-competitor opinion on the most awesome army and presentation to improve impartiality of such a vote. All armies shall be painted to a minimum wargaming standard. 2-3 independent observers will provide their rankings (1st 2nd and 3rd) of armies from each period, and these votes will be used for count-backs if necessary, a person with the most higher rank votes will win such a count-back.

Army Lists: to be submitted on or before Sunday March 22nd, 23:59hrs, to:
3ed rules with LFTF updates & any published errata up to the tournament date will be used. All lists to be drawn from the BF books and official 3ed approved PDF lists published up to March 1st 2015. For LW the superceded Soviet armies identified by BF (Fortress Europe, Stalin’s Onslaught, Hammer & Sickle, Stalin’s Europe, etc) will not be allowed. Proxies please ask Umpires first, must be reasonably close proxies if allowed.

Timeout: Due to 2.5 hour rounds fast play is required, particularly by players with large infantry armies. In any defensive or mobile battle with objectives live at 6 turns, where both players do not complete 6 turns, the VP will be determined using the draw protocol from fairfight rules (neither player wins). Slow play which is ill-considered or deliberate by either player is unsporting and will be treated as such.

Registration: Please submit a registration form when you complete payment, forms will be linked to the forum and/or emailed with your enquiry to

BF NATCON forum thread: ... aft=566055

I will attempt to keep an eye om this thread but preferably if you want to discuss the Nationals FoW do use the BF thread as I will see that most promptly, you can email my Equinox a/c as well.

Thanks for letting this vagrant on your boards, cheers, Sofia.

I'm trying to upload a downloadable player's pack but so far have been bumped as I can't load .pdf or .docx files in this forum, any clues?

Thanks for the tip on that. I will upload at the Battlefront tournaments site once I have the CG NATCON rego form to add to the v1 briefing. The content above is the complete briefing anyway so not at issue there.
