Over the top we go !

WW1 game at the club, we gamed it in two sections as the table was at set at 36ft long by 6 wide.First game was in the morning and the second was after fish and chips, it was fun and a close game, Germans losted the morning but won the afternoon, 8 players in all.

Not going to talk to much about the history of WW1 but just some interesting facts i found.

More photos on the website, pt2 next week enjoy.

11. A common trick for sniping people was to send up a kite with writing on it. Anyone who raised his head to read it was shot.

12. Field Punishment Number One involved the offender being attached to a fixed object for up to two hours a day and for a period up to three months. During the First World War, these men were sometimes put in a place within range of enemy shell-fire.

13. Many men killed in the trenches were buried almost where they fell.

14. Self-inflicted harm was common in the trenches because the soldiers would get sent home. The most common method was to shot themselves in the foot.
