Hello,
the Christchurch Wargaming club is planning an Operation Barbarossa 75th Anniversary event on June 25th at Woolston Club in Christchurch.

The main event will be a multi-player Bolt Action game between Germans and Soviets.
Alternatively, players can compete in separate games to influence the overall outcome.

I will post a first draft of the player pack soon.

Operation Barbarossa Player Pack v0.1

1 Platoon per player

Theatre Selectors:
Soviet Union: Barbarossa!
Additional units: BA-3/6, D-8, FAI, SMK/T-100, OT-130

Germany: 1941 - Operation Barbarossa
Additional units: Sturmpioniere, Brandenburgers, Flammpanzer B2(f), 3.7cm PaK 35/36 Fahrgestell Bren, Opel Blitz with Flak 38, motorcycle with MG sidecar, Artillerieschlepper VA 601 (b), Sd Kfz 251/8 ambulance

Restrictions:
No Forward Observers, maximum of 1 flamethrower per platoon (EITHER infantry OR vehicle)

Reinforcements Pool: A joint reinforcements pool will be given to each side. These units can enter the battle by the standard reserve rules and can be assigned to any player of that side.

Bolt Action Dot Net Season 3 Format Rules will be used
(http://www.wwpd.net/p/bolt-action.html)

Set-up:
3 zones – South, Center, North
Each zone has a different objective
Units can move freely between zones

Center Zone: Envelopment with Germans as attackers
South Zone: Demolitions
North Zone: Top Secret

Overall additional scoring: Maximum Attrition

Side games: Players who don't want to take part in the main battle can participate in side games that will influence the overall outcome by contributing additional victory points

Initiative:
Each side has 10 order dice in the bag. Dice are drawn in the usual manner. All players of a side simultaneously activate an unit whenever a die of their faction is drawn. If a player has more than 10 units under his command he cannot give orders to all of them in a turn.

Metagrinder:
Both sides are feeding more and more troops into the battle. Whenever a unit is destroyed, it is returned to Reserves (at full strength as given on army list) and can enter the battlefield the follwoing turn under the normal rules of reserves. Reserves cannot enter the table within 12" of an enemy unit. A player can decide to remove a unit from the game to return them to Reserves at full strength. Nevertheless, this unit counts as destroyed and the e opposing side earns normal victory points for the removed unit.
Units from the Reinforcement Pool are NOT returned to the pool when they are destroyed or removed from the game.

Off-table artillery:
Artillery with a spotter can be deployed off-table. The spotter is deployed and can direct fire as usual. Off-table artillery can not be destroyed.

Me and Brad have some early war Germans coming. 20 infantry and a 5cm gun each. Hopefully that should be a reasonable amount to form a chunk of the German lines. :)

Great!
I have some Early War Soviets I'll paint up. They are wearing winter gear, but I guess that doesn't matter that much ;)
Also really tempted to buy a T-38 or SMK.

Also it shouldn't be a problem to organise some additional forces from other players.

BTW, I forgot to mention that it will be 1000 points per player.

Count me in, got a good 1500+points worth of soviets and another maybe 1200 points of fallschirmjager to put towards the event. Sounds like fun!

Start is officially at 10 AM, I'll be there earlier to set up the table.

We will play until around 4 PM and then add up points. Or something like that, I have honestly not really a clue how long it all will take ;)

Operation Barbarossa 25-06-16

Start: 10 AM

Please bring a 1000 point army (and the corresponding army list) as well as your usual hobby stuff like dice and measuring tape..

Have a look at the special rules posted further up.

If you have more than 1000 points of appropriate German and/or Soviet troops, please bring them all. We can use some for strategic reserves and such.

I assume that we will easily be able to wrap up at 4 PM. Maybe earlier.

If there are any more questions just post them here or send me a PM!

For those who're interested:

After 5 turns the Germans won 24:18 after extracting the top secret documents, but being unable to breakt through in teh center or to dislodge the Soviets (and their KV-1) from the bridge.

I took a couple of pics with my phone, if they are almost decent I'll put them up here.

Thanks to everyone for showing up, it was a lot of fun!
