I see that the Beta version of Mantic's Warpath Sci Fi rules set is available today... interesting mix of mechanisms, including the alternate unit activation system used in Epic, and a return to casualty removal ...

Kind regards
Robin

Forge of War is another free set of sci-fi wargaming rules with some interesting mechanics. Some cool person also wrote out lists so you can play using most 40K armies.
You can find a session report here that gives a run down on the rules.

I'm definitely keen to try it out, once they release the final beta in a few weeks time ( being a big fan of Kings of War ), just need to get around to gluing a force together. I've also got some Veer-myn ( converting to a KoW army ) that you're welcome to have a look, if you want to see some models in the flesh.

Purchased some Veer-mym to use as Gutter Runners and Warplocke engineers - nice wee figures
