Hello all, details for 40k Tempest 2012 are as follows:

Shirley St Albans Club on Sunday 29th April 2012
Doors open at 8am and finished by 5.30pm
A One Day Event, 3 Games, Spot Prizes only
$15 entry fee (paid at the door)
This year's Tempest event will be raising funds for Canteen.

The general aim is for a fun tournament with some interesting (and hopefully amusing) missions.

1350 points, standard Force Organisation Chart. No Forgeworld. Lists need to be emailed to noisemarine@snap.net.nz by Friday the 13th of April for early bonus.

Points breakdown is as follows:
2% For getting list in on time.
8% Painting (Basic yes/no assessment by me, 3 colours and based as a minimum).
15% per Major Objective gained.
9% per Minor Objective gained.
6% per HQ kill. If you have more than one HQ unit in your army, then you must select one in your army list to wear the "Bullets Go Here" sign for the duration of the tournament (i.e points will be gained by your opponent for killing this one.)

That's all I need to cover I believe, if I've missed anything please feel free to point it out (this is the first tournament I've run for Cavs, so mistakes are more than plausible).

so a quick point about the percentage breakdown.

everything except the HQ kills comes to a max of 82%.
If HQ kills are worth 3% each then the only way you can reach 100% is if you kill 2 HQ's per battle. (2 HQ choices at 3% each for all 3 battles = 18%)
I'm only going to be taking one HQ therefore my opponents cannot possibly get the full 100% points.
On the other hand if I play against space wolves or chaos demons they can have more than 2 HQ choices, so I can get 106% points in a battle.

I would recommend in order to fix this that you change the points around and award the 3% (or however much) for killing a nominated HQ unit which is nominated either before the game or after deployment.

Fair point, the gods of maths and rules were clearly not with me that day. Fixed the OP.

I'm not sure why exactly it was moved, I more or less stuck my hand up to run it and was told the date was the 29th.

Tempest last year was 30th July

BF has always been April - we chose it because it didn't clash with other tourneys

Kinda a mute point now as we have decided to cancel BF Doubles.

Tempest (as a one day event) was moved to April, to allow a new 2 day event to occupy the July spot.

Surly it wouldn't of been to hard not to put it on at the same time as another event in the south island?

That just sounds plain rude to me. BF has always been in April and to have it on the same weekend? WTF?

Sounds like a bit of incompetence on behalf of the organisers.

Tempest as a one day event should be piss easy to have on any other weekend.

The date was chosen because it was the only suitable date that the room could be booked for, after the decision was made to move tempest up and make room for the new two day event. That said we (the comittee) were not all aware that this date would clash until the damage was already done, which I can only apologise for.

How many lists have you received so far, Zane? And when can we expect missions?
