So, thinking about throwing my hat into the ring for commission painting work. So I thought I'd have a check here first to see a few things.

First I suppose, is this common? I know more than a few people who are sick of painting armies, but not interested enough to pay someone else to.

Secondly, when getting work done, what sort of standard do most people want? That is, I assume you wouldn't want someone just to spray and dot dot, but golden daemon level for their characters, or whole armies to tabletop?

And is there a reasonable or common rate for such work? Or is that too individual, each painter deciding based on how complicated the work is versus their skill?

Do you intend to paint 'historical' armies or just warhammer / fantasy type stuff :?:
There are some locals who may be interested in getting 15mm metal historical stuff painted.

Different people want different things from a commission painter, and price tends to vary on the size of the models and the standard they want achieved. Many pro painters have different set standards with different costs associated while other more casual ones will simply negotiate an individual deal with each customer. I would suggest taking some good photos of your work and posting them on the forum if you do decide to pro paint.

Heh, I'd be painting anything the customer wanted. Mostly I've done work at the 28mm scale. I did do a FoW Russian army a while ago, but have no photos of it.

I would be interested in getting my saga army painted once I buy it. I am really good at painting ww2 but really crap at fantasy type models. So anything that is of the standard shown in your pictures would be groovy with me.
