ADLG 28mm competition anyone?

I played a couple of 200 point adlg games early on and really enjoyed them. Quite a different feel from 15mm but just as enjoyable.

I'll be in for a 25/28mm competition, my soldiers are so old they struggle to reach 25mm let alone 28mm. But according to legend one of the successors rehired some of Alexander's veterans and they smashed the younger upstarts his opponent used. Old and cunning beats young and energetic almost every time.

Depending on how much lead time I had I could source some of those small DbX bases or 60mm squares and rebase some EIR.

That would be cool Jamie! :)

Which reminds me I must order some more 60mm bases from Dopey Dog for my Republican Romans.

Great would rather wait a bit to give a few more people the chance to be involved if possible.

Two games today, both 15mm AdlG.
Brent marched out some fake Triumvirate Romans with Bolt Shooters, against Jamie's Late Imperial Romans which included some grunty Allies.
The Allies kept Brent's centre occupied for some time by charging up hill into it and holding out long enough for the wings to crush Brent's left and right wings. Battle over, well done Jamie.

Whilst Brent was marching home he ran into a horde of Hephthalite Huns ( lead by me ) keen for some Roman Loot, Brent deployed his Legions on the flat behind some hilly terrain with a road running down one side. The centre was brush with a small wooded area to the Roman right.
The Huns deployed mounted commands on each flank and Elephants in the centre opposite the Roman centre. The Hun mounted sped forwards on both flanks making good use of the road through the hills and was soon engaged with both Roman wings.
The battle was hard fought on the flanks whilst the two centres hardly moved. The Roman General leading the fight on the hard pressed Roman right was cut down in melee causing the collapse of the entire flank and the Romans ran from the field. Much loot was gathered by the Huns and a fine set of Bolt Shooters now adorn the entrance of my Yurt.

Two games today, both 15mm AdlG.

Andre & Kerry had a very serious ( we know due to all the 'discussion' going on with raised voices ) practise game for Warclouds.
The armies used were unknown to me but both contained many Elephants and waved 'Classical' banners.

Brent & I had a much more subdued game with many breaks for casual discussion with friends and visitors. My Lydian army ( List 65 ) was doing well against Brent's Triumvirate Romans until a General was slain by a Roman General and the Legions finally advanced and began knocking the Lydian Spearmen about. Close game but well done Brent.
Lydians are not as good under AdlG as they are in DBA.

Two games today, both AldG 15mm
Brent ran his Romans against my Kushans. Romans defended in Plains Terrain with two Fields dominating the centre of the battlefield.
Kushans rushed at the Roman right wing which was deployed deep defending the Fortified Camp (I think Brent's lunch was in there)
Kushan centre stayed back defending its baggage from marauding Roman horse. Kushan Flank march arrives early on and does little at all during the game which ended in a draw. Romans managed to defend their camp and remove a Kushan General but suffered heavily from the Kushan shooting. Brent had fantastic Pip Dice through out the battle.

Game two saw Eric's Hussites attack the Kushans with a Flank March supporting the Wagon Laager.
Kushans tried to shoot up the two corners of the Laager but could not get positioned and began suffering casualties from the Hussite shooting so charged the laager corners with Cataphracts and Elephants but it was too late and the Kushans were driven from the field. Good win to Eric.
