Yo my brothers from other mothers.
I'm going to be running a fearsome DOUBLEWALL list at Lords of Ruin next month. So pucker up...

Interested in hearing some REAL wargamers opinions on which caster to run them with (Aucklanders are lame and thus have lame opinions).

1) Not really interested in eHaley.
2) Not interested in Darius, aka the most boring caster in existence.

At this point I'm leaning towards Kraye given I've never played him before and he runs them well enough. What do you guys think?

Kraye +6
Stormwall 19
Stormwall 19
Journeyman 3

+Sentinel 4
+Min Blazers 6

Kills infantry dead. B13th is in the other list. I'm tossing up the journeyman vs squire/stormcallers/mechanics, but I do like the idea of Arcane Shield on Kraye as he'll be dry on focus most of the time. Also ARM 22 Stormwalls are a thing.

Hahaha, that sound diabolical! I love it!

I do enjoy using Kraye and you don't often see him enough.

I would have fun with doing this with a 3Mo list, lightning spam is funny.

However I am too far out of the loop for playing as I haven't played since I left NZ :<

You've come to the right place.

Firstly a question, what are you dropping for the 35 point list? I'm assuming the Blazers and Sentinel, for all Stormwall, all the time?

Secondly, Kraye's practically mainstream these days, see him all the time, I say bust out a Nemo!

There's a couple of reasons I like Kraye. 1) his SWs are up the board really fast, so jamming them out of zones is a lot harder. 2) he's fast, and in scenario play movement is king. 3) he's a lot more tank then a Nemo.

I'm keen on tying one of the Nemos with double wall one day, but for now I just think they'll end up running out of places to hide.

Good thoughts though, keep em coming!

And yes, blazers and sentinel are dropped for the 35pt list. :)

Thought about perhaps using pStryker? Hes not very flamboyant, but no one is going to be able to scratch arm 27 colossals, and pods make good earthquake targets.

This thread be cray, so stick with Kraye. Keep the journeyman, arcane shield is a must!

pStryker is a good option, and one I'll look to try one day soon if not in Welly. The main problem I have with him is he lacks damage buffs. The assassination threat is pretty legit with Wyshnalyrr though. Yeah, definitely giving it a try at some point.

Which is why he can get away with the idea of double stormwall well enough, as they're the hardest hitting non warcaster models we get. Unless you want to run a nemo variant you've only got siege or one of the other strykers to buff damage anyway.

So my original pairing for the tournament was pHaley + Kraye Doublewall. However, I'm kind of feeling they do similar things. I don't mind dropping either vs Cryx and infantry swams, but neither excite me against Skorne, Trolls, etc. So I returned to an old idea of two-birds-with-one-stone pHaley Doublewall paired with someone who can handle bricks better. How about these two then?

pHaley +5
^Squire 2
^Stormwall 19
Jakes 3
^Galant 9
Blazers 6
Stormcaller 1

Escalation:
-Galant 9
+Stormwall 19

Siege +5
^Squire 2
^Defender 9
Boomhowlers 9
Rangers 5
Journeyman 3
Reinholdt 1
eEiryss 3
Gunmages + UA 8

Escalation:
-Defender 9
+Stormwall 19

Jakes takes the second SW for pHaley at 45points. She just becomes a focus battery, but is pretty well protected so I don't see her dying if I can play at least somewhat competently. pHaley doesn't have the focus to run two by herself, generally only having two spare focus a turn.
It's certainly not a strong pHaley list, or at least it does different things than what I usually run with her, but still infantry clears ok and has a lot of board presence with all those covering fires.

The Siege list is pretty standard. I've just been getting kerb stomped by too many trolls lately, I need some revenge!

Haley1 Stormwall Galleon beat Trolls family reunion at Gencon masters. Double colossal with 2 arcane shields and temporal barrier can stand up to a LOT of punishment. Also I'd drop the blazers and stormsmith for a junior and B13.

Ok, I think I've made up my mind. One and a bit weeks out, I've decided that I like boring casters! So here's what I plan on taking:

Darius
^Wyshnalyrr
^Stormwall
^Stormwall

Add for 45 points:
Sentinel
Journeyman
Ragman
Stormcaller

Haley1
^Squire
^Stormwall
Arcane Tempest Gun Mages + UA
Stormblades + UA
^Gunner
Rhupert

Add for 45 points:
Min Blazers
Black 13th

Looking forward to catching up with those of you lads going to Welly. Thanks for the tips with list building, should be fun!

Double Stormwall at 35?! Not sure if madness or genius. Be careful what scenarios you play that in.
