For some years Allen Yaxley has run the Winter Cup competition at the Hutt Valley Miniature Wargaming Club. This year, Allen has done a lovely thing and provided a trophy to remember one of wargaming’s genuinely all round, decent blokes, Rob Cameron.

In 1962 Rob was born with kidneys and legs that did not work properly, and spent most of the first years of his life in and out of hospital and then had many more short and long stays throughout his life.

I met Rob when we were teenagers, last century, and never once remember him complaining about how unkind the dice gods had been. Eventually, in 2015 after what I think was decades of dialysis, Rob’s kidneys finally failed.

This is a great way to remember Rob, by taking part in something he loved, playing with toy soldiers.

Well done Gary Lewis for winning the inaugural Rob Cameron Memorial Trophy with a sterling 91 or 92 points out of 100. Gary used Florentines from the Italian Condotta list. Allen will post the full results.

There are several posts from the two Saturdays of the competition, which finished yesterday, plus lots more on the DBMM New Zealand Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/824840264342234

Best regards
Vince

Hi all

Allen Yaxley has sent the results to the participants. Many thanks to Allen for another successful and great fun event. Great to see Romans doing so well, including the winner being Later Post-Imperial Romanum, and the true Early Imperial Roman Emperor scoring 3 points more than the Early Imperial Germanic usurper.

Best regards
Vince
