Hi all

A big thank you to Allen Yaxley for organising the DBMM competition Saturday and Sunday, and a bunch of horse and musket and ancient demo games on Friday and Saturday. Allen will post full results soon. Highlights for me included:

- In my first game, summoning the devil and his brother! In one bound my PIP dice were 666 and my flank marching command rolled a fourth 6. I have never done that before :-)

- I won the medal for best army with my Early Byzantines. Many thanks to Brent Senior-Partridge for giving me my box of 25mm Hinchcliffe Byzantines. By spending about $200 to buy some additional figures I have got Early and Maurikian Byzantines from the box. Choice! as we might say in some parts of New Zealand LOL

- Lots of good conversation and ideas about my army. I had only used it once before and tweaks will be made to one or two commands and to how I use the infantry command. I finished with 52 points from four games.

- Graham Starkey, a great bloke returning to wargaming after the slings and arrows of breeding and raising children, has my Early Imperial Romans on long-term loan while he decides which army he will get for his very own.

- Last, and definitely not least, catching up with old friends who I had not seen for years. Great to see you guys. We need to do this more often :-)

Vince

Copy and paste of information Allen Yaxley has posted:

10. John Way Marian Roman 52BC 40 points
11. Nick Buckby New Kingdom Egyptian 1543BC 34 points
12. Richard Mason Kushite Egyptian 727BC 33 points
13. Richard fields Sea Peoples 1202BC 24 points
14. Drew Fortune Ottoman 1390BC 12 points
15. Allen Yaxley DNF
16. John Mclennan DNF

The Award for Best terrain went to Drew's river which he made himself & was the best I have ever seen. The Judge agreed.

The Award for General Slayer went to Grant with 3 Generals slain.

The Award for Baggage Looter was awarded to Tilman with 6 elements burgled.

The best army was close with Grant , Drew , Dirk & Vince all mentioned but the judge chose Vince as his presented will with the terrain in his first game. I could have given out 6 best army awards , the standard was so high. Alastair's Africans, Andrew's Carthaginians, & Phil's Venetians all mentioned.

Will done Andrew & Nick for 10 out of 10 in the Military History Quiz.

John Mclennan , I hope you are better by the time you get this. Hope to see you all in June at NICON.
