31/60 places have been filled. Here is the player list so far:

Luke Brimblecombe
Nick Buckby
Neil Chapman
Paul Clarke
Phil Comins
Damian Caulfield
Harry Dixon
Pete Dunn
Jack Dunn
Paul Hawkes
Nick Irvine
Nikola Jaksic
Simon Kwok
Mark Lowe
John Matthews
Mark McCall
James Milner
Ray O'Connor
Bryan Orsbourne
Phil Petry
Reid Pittams
Henry Poor
Rion Roben
Marcelo Rouco
Rob Sadler
Derwin Smith
Glen Tibbles
Thomas Van Roekel
Mike Vercoe
Ben Wadsworth
Josh Warne

These player's automatically receive a free one-use reroll due to their timely payment. 5 tables of terrain have been sponsored so far.

Earlybird price registration cutoff is 1st August (next Sunday!).

I have a further 24 players on a contact database of those who have registered interest in attending the event and advertising has been sent to the main retailers to generate interest among those who may frequent such stores. 19 more players registered will not only qualify the event for maximum rankings points but will also make it the biggest Fantasy tournament in NZ for quite some time.

This thread will be updated as payments/registrations are received.

Cheers,
Dave Stent
Umpire

21 players have registered their interest in the short time since I started this topic. Great start folks - let's keep those emails coming in!

It could be a sign that I'm out of the loop (and have been for a while) but I'm confused. Are there two Fields of Blood tournaments in NZ, both held in September, one in Wellington 19-20 Sept, and then this one in Auckland 26-27 Sept?

Wellington is 40k, Auckland is Fantasy.

There are two definite Fantasy events in Wellington coming up:

The Horned Rat II and Call to Arms

See the North Island Events forum for details.

Cheers

Pete

Yeah, as I understand it this one is a Fantasy Tournament with the same name.

That's pretty much it. Bit of a hangover from the days when GW ran the show and Pete Dunn and I just decided to keep the familiar name but split the tourney's between Wellington and Auckland.

The Fields of Blood Fantasy tournament is being run under the wider umbrella of GuardCon - the Auckland City Guard's annual gaming convention - which includes a Warmachine tournament, the Greenstone Cup (Bloodbowl) and a 40k invitational event for a few locals.

The player's pack is now available for download:

Fields of Blood player's pack

BIG thanks to the IF lads for their support in hosting the pack!

I will send out an email tonight with this link to the 49 people who have thus far registered their interest.

With general in-store advertising now going out around the country I suspect this tournament will blow past 60 players making it the biggest Fantasy tournament in NZ to date.

Don't we all... I suspect it may yet prove to be the most hotly contested section of the event this year... and that Dave may have some difficulty selecting the " Big 8"

Bribes accepted readily...

Actually Phil you're totally right. I think the top 8 will a tough choice indeed. Good thing I'm taking all the pressure for that decision on myself. Then everyone knows who to blame. Probably a few spat dummies heading my way in the future :)

I had an interesting response to the painting scoring from the few people I consulted on the pack but in the end reckoned it was about time top painting scores had a serious impact on the top 10 places (at least). While they obviously have less impact than battle and comp we all know the inevitable points separation at the top end is VERY narrow.

I'm also heartily sick of unpainted armies at tournaments.
