Ancients 25mm, Call to Arms 18-19 August 2012
St Patricks School Hall, Kilberne, Wellington

The 25mm Ancients competition will be organised by Mark Pickup. Umpiring will be by peer review using the rule book and, where appropriate, the published army lists as the references.

1. Rules: Wargames Research Group DBMM v.2

2. Army lists: Official lists published by WRG
400 army points (AP), please include the name and number of your list, date, and any geographical or other choices made. For example, Early Imperial Roman 2/56, 161 AD, based in Syria.
List your army by commands, specifying the number, morale equivalents (ME), types and AP of all elements in each command, the number of ME that each command has in total and the number it must successively lose to be disheartened and broken. Please also specify the number of ME the whole army starts with, the number of ME it must lose to be defeated and up to five stratagems from which it can choose two for each game.
Send your list to mark.pickup@paradise.net.nz. .

3. Competition Style: ‘Swapa-Crate’ or normal draw
There were 20 responses to the survey by email and via yahoo. 11/20 either supported swapa-crate or didn’t care, 6/20 said they would play only if it was dropped and 3/20 said either not playing or not coming.

On that basis we will play a normal draw as below. We may however, if and only if, all registered player unanimously agree, revert to swapa-crate on the day. In which case players will leave their army and terrain and rotate tables.

4. Draw: The following priorities will be used in order to find your opponent.
1. The player with the most victory points (VP) at the start of the round will play the next highest player who he has not already played. The second player, unless drawn to play the top player, will play the next highest player who he has not already played, and so forth.
2. A player from a different town.
3. Historical opponent as defined in the published army lists.
4. Contemporary army based on your chosen date.
5. Count back of VP.
6. Random.
7. There will be no byes. If all else fails, I will drop out of the competition to keep it even.
4. Rounds: 3.5 hours 9am-12.30pm and 1.30pm to 5pm
5. Tables: 8’ x 6’, normal terrain rules will apply.
6. Deployment: No night attack games will be permitted.
If a night attack results from deployment dice. The players will re-dice as it will be assumed the attacker lost their way during the night and fights the next day.
