You come disguised as a sheep and I'll come disguised as a Weka.
Free velcro gloves will be provided at the event for anyone wanting to give a Coaster a pasting

I bet a Cantabrian in a Weka suit still looks like a chicken!
The event sounds like fun. Some of the guys over here may be keen, especially in the 40k planetstrike
If you guys can get some concrete details by Wednesday I'll try and drum up some support at the club.

Cool, well venue is confirmed for the 16th. Start time around 9.00ish. Looking at opening the doors at 8.30ish.
For planetstrike I've just paid for two of the new bastions, the rulebook and that crater terrain stuff for the club. It would be great if people can bring along some of their own planetstrike terrain, especially if they've got stuff they've made themselves rather than the GW stuff. I'd love to see some real scratch built terrain.
The plan for planet strike is learn the rules and have fun. There will be no prizes for 1st 2nd 3rd etc. Rather prizes will be for less refined things such as biggest massacre (prize goes to the massacee for getting pwned) General killer, best terrain piece etc. These are ideas as I haven't worked out the details as yet so if you have suggestions please let me know but the focus will be more on learning some new rules and trying new missions rather than winning a tournament.
I've picked up a club copy of Planetstrike. I'll have a squizz this weekend and post some more definite details as to how it's going to be run.

Ok, here's my plans for Planet Strike:
- 2 games about 3 hours in length to give people time to figure out the rules. First game has no Stratagems and is a basic mission. Second one does have Stratagems and will be one of the missions towards the back of the book.
- Armys are 2000 points each. You need to bring the models to field both an attacking and defending force. (force org for Planet Strike is quite different)
- All armys must be painted.
This is throwing an idea out there. I've not even played Planet Strike yet let alone had time to test this concept so please give me some feedback on how you think this will or will not work.

Not sure here. I get the reason but in this case your asking for 2000pts (or more) all painted in less than a month! It's fine if you've already got an army but automatically rules out a lot of newer players. I know it would cut down the guys from here by about half and not cos they're lazy non-painters.
Perhaps you could relax the painting rules a bit. It just for fun anyway right?
I really like the idea of no prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Even though without a prize for 1st I'll probably be leaving empty handed.

Cool, painting rules can be relaxed but if you are bringing a few guys over you'll probably need to bring some objectives. All we have at the moment is 2 bastions and the aegis defence lines.
If you can bring some terrain we can hopefully accomodate everyone.

Sure.
I'll talk to the Guys on Weds and see if we can get a few bastions and things underway. I'll scratch build one and I know Glenn will too. We won't come empty handed.
Perhaps you could run a prize for the best bastion?

I'll order in a bastion to make orky when I go in to grab my painboy this week, I also brought the planetstrike book, so I'll bring it to club on Wednesday when I trade template for template with Glenn

Yep if people are going to bring terrain then I'll definitely be putting up a terrain prize.

There will be a 1000pt War of the Ring competition, therefore we may be short on players for a normal LOTR comp

I was going to discuss this with Tim today but he's not at the shop. I'll get in touch with him over the weekend and find out exactly what we're running.
