Regulations :
Carnage 2012 will be run under the 8th Edition Warhammer Fantasy rule set.
No back of the book lists are allowed.
All armies must use an Army book that has been published and released in Australia at least 1 month before the commencement of the tournament. Chaos Dwarf generals may use the list from Tamurkhan book. Please explain your list to opponents.
Weapons, armour options and upgrades chosen from the army list must be shown on the majority of the models in a unit as much as possible. (Some discretion with older models is allowed)
Proxies are allowed within reason. The proxy should resemble the troops/warmachine as closely as possible. It is important that the proxies do not confuse your opponent.
Scenarios from the rule book will be used to encourage all rounder armies.
The games will be played with open lists. Players can ask to see their opponent’s army list at any time and have the functions of magic items explained.

The tournament will run under the following “Hardcaps”

1.Maximum Power Dice Usage of 12 in the Magic Phase (as distinct from a maximum of 12 dice in the pool at any time)
2.Army to have no more than three potential template weapons
3.Army to have a maximum of three warmachines (2 for 1 count as one)
4.No more than two of the same Special Choice
5.No double rare choice worth more than 70 points
6.Only one item that automatically dispels a spell
7.No single unit maybe more than 400pts

Army Specific restrictions

1.Daemons of Chaos: No duplication of Daemonic gifts.
2.Empire: The Steam Tank is classed as a warmachine.
3.Dark Elves: Maximum of 6 dice can be used for a single spell.
4.Skaven: A maximum of three engineers.
5.Vampire Counts: Only one Vampire may have the Loremaster ability.
6.Ogres: Max of 1 Iron Blaster and no more than 6 Mournfang Cav in a list

Tournament Scoring

Each player will accumulate tournament points over the course of the day comprising of the elements listed below. In total there are 110 tournament points available:

Battle Pts 80
Sportsmanship Pts 20
Painting Pts 10

Byes :

Well let’s hope we have an even number of players. If we do have an odd number of players, the TO will play in round 1 and you will earn battle points in the normal way. After that, whoever is bottom of the table (random tiebreaker) will receive a bye and be awarded 15 battle points (20 battle points in the final battle). Nobody will receive more than one bye.

Sportsmanship:

After every game each player will answer the 5 questions below regarding their opponent’s sportsmanship attributes throughout the game. A player's tournament points for sports are calculated by their opponent's responses to these questions.
1.Regardless of the outcome of the battle did your opponent's behaviour enhance, or at least do nothing to detract from, your enjoyment of the game?
2. Were all rules queries resolved amicably and without too much argument? Calling for an umpire can still be considered amicable.
3. Did your opponent avoid doing anything "dodgy" during the game in your opinion? ("Rubber Ruler", Intentions not stated prior to doing something – rolling dice, moving, shooting, charging etc).
4. In your opinion, did your opponent play the game in the right spirit? Did they maintain a sensible approach and demeanor when things were not going their way?
5.Would you be happy enough to play your opponent again?

The things you should also consider are:
Did your opponent enjoy the ludicrous things that happened both good and bad for them?
Did your opponent have a good knowledge of their army?
Did your opponent seem try to twist the rules to their advantage?

And most importantly
Did your opponent explain your options within the rules, particularly if you are an inexperienced player?

Sometimes it is difficult to do but you should try and exclude the following from your consideration which are army composition considerations.
Did their army try to exploit weaknesses in the rules?
What you thought of the army list setup of the player.

At the end of Round 4 each player has the opportunity to vote for their favourite player from their played games. Consider all the above factors into your decision. The votes will be counted and the player receiving the most votes will receive a bonus of 3 tournament points. The player with the second most votes will receive 2 tournament points. All players voted for will receive at least 1 point. If two or more players gain the same number of votes they will receive the same number of points. Any tie-breaker necessary for the “Best General” award will be decided by the TO if this should become necessary

Painting :

Painting score will be out of 10.The TO will be marking this score and will be judging your army based on effort, painting and converting skill.

Army Lists:

Players are required to send their army lists through to Warpmaster_4@hotmail.com no later than 1 week before the commencement of the tournament .Any lists plus registrations recivied before the 15th of September will recive a free re roll that can “Only” be used on your first game.

Re Roll:

The free re roll for getting your list and registration fee in before the 15th of september can be used in the following ways.
You can re roll failed armour saves
You can re roll failed, to wound or to hit roll
You can't use it to re roll scatter or artillery dice

Note:The re roll can only be used on your first game.If it isn't used then it is lost.

Scenarios

The scenarios at carnage this year will be randomly drawn each round by the TO .No Scenario can be played more than twice at the event.

The following amendments to these scenarios have been made:

Watchtower :

The battle will be conducted as per the instructions on page 150 of the rulebook.
To fit in with the tournament scoring system the following modifications will apply:
1. The Victory points (VPs) for holding the watchtower at the end of the game are 450 VPs
2. The game lasts for a maximum of 6 turns but it may still end earlier.
3. With the exception of the additional Watchtower points, victory points are determined as usual.

Blood and Glory :

The battle will be conducted as per the instructions on page 148 of the rulebook.

First player to break the other will recive 450pts in addition to normal Vps

Terrain :

Terrain will be mysterious woods, and mysterious river/water feature as per the rule book ie. ponds are mysterious water .

Marshes will be mysterious as follows:
1-3 Normal marsh
4 Earthblood Mere
5 Khemrian Quicksand
6 Mist wreathed swamp

All other terrain will be as per agreement between the players

Took a lot of this from the Vermintide Player pack so big thanks to those chaps.

Feel free to ask questions

Must armies be painted? I'd like to enter but the odds of having enough clanrats done to do so is not good.
