Must be a good time to be into 'getting around the corner' with FFG announcing their new game, Runewars.

https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2016/8/5/runewars-the-miniatures-game/

It will be interesting to see how this pans out as they have a bit more muscle behind them then their competitors.

So every unit has 2 dials next to it for the whole game?

Possibly?

Each unit has a dial thingy, article doesn't go into where they are placed. Might sit near the generals board edge a la Warmachine unit cards.

Looks like a small number d8 and d12 dice, so might be opposed dice rolls which is always a nice mechanic.

Yup, FFG could eat Mantic for breakfast, size wise. I understand FFGs parent company (Asmodee?), allegedly, could do the same thing to GW.

Every unit in RuneWars has a corresponding command tool, like the one you can see below. These command tools are composed of two parts: an action dial on the left and a modifier dial on the right. At the beginning of each round, you’ll set a command tool for each of your units by choosing an action and a modifier for each unit.

Seems to be a lot of games with all sorts of trinkets like this these days. No thanks. A few wound or similar markers perhaps if that's unavoidable, but I prefer clean games with just figures and dice.

If it's got a decent scenario system like it hints at that could be a plus though.

Ah FFG of X-wing fame. That explains all the extra dials and so on.

Agreed, one of the reasons I love DBA is the ancillary bits consist of a measuring gage and a single dice.

FFG are more specialised in board games, hence all the tokens and markers.
