This year's Nelson 40K GT will be on Saturday 29th - Sunday 30th of September.

Venue is Pioneer Park Clubrooms, Hastings Street, Nelson.

3 games will be played on each day, starting at 10 on Saturday morning and possibly earlier on Sunday to fit in the prizegiving and tallying of results, depending on what time we finish on Saturday.

All armies should be fully painted and based, no painting scores will be awarded to people with unpainted armies. Armies are to be no more than 1500 points and must be a legal list from the current edition codex for the relevant race. Special characters may only be used if they do not not require your opponent's permission, and only one may be used per army. Sportsmanship, composition and painting will be scored at the tournament and prizes awarded for best sport, best painted, best general and top 3 overall.

Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in playing so we can adjust if need be for out of towners who want to travel up.

Thanks.

What is a special character? Does that include the new codex's where they are standard HQ choices with the 'Individual' rule?

Weasel, it means that on the day everyone is allowed to replace one troop model with Abaddon free of charge, and to compensate for that any and every IC you take will be replaced with a Spinegaunt.

Also, (I could easily be wrong here) but can't Dante only be taken in 2,000+ games?

You would be correct, Dante can only be in a 2000 point list or higher. Thank God.

Aack! Don't ask me 40K questions I am a Fantasy man... I'm not sure how it works in the new Codexes but pretty much was going to have it extend to all "named characters". We are at this moment having a similar discussion over on our forum so will let you know as soon as we have a verdict.

Also forgot to mention that to add an extra tactical dimension to the event at least 2 games will be played using the Cities of Death rules, with 2 stratagems allowed per player.

I will try to run a very flexible event so please let me know if you have any suggestions or comments about the tournament.

Thanks

Wrong! :D That's the OLD Dante, the NEW Dante suffers from no such restrictions! Anyway, how do you know I wasn't refering to Mephiston?

I hate to tell you this, but if you remove all named characters you will screw with a lot of armies. For example, Deathwing and Ravenwing from the new Dark Angles MUST take named characters or else they become illegal!

Just a small point

I see...

What are the policies on special characters for other events such as Conquest and Nationals?

That they are ok. Some tournies wont allow ones that require opponents consent but they are few and far between these days.

Ok the ruling is that only special characters which do not require opponents consent are to be used.

Well my brain is debating on whether to come or not, also if I do come what army to bring, as I could bring marines (albeit a really weak list) or Dark Eldar.

I will let you know what I decide closer to the time.
